Robotics!

 Everyone loves a good robot right? I love playing with robots. I have learned so much with them. I have learned that coding can be so much fun, more fun than I thought it could be. I mean, I learned about coding through the Dash and Dot robots roughly 6 years ago when I worked at a STEM school with 6th graders. What I learned then and it was confirmed today, coding is giving directions to your robot from a computer or controller and that there are many way to give those directions.

I was given the privilege to work with the Sphero robot yesterday. I would LOVE to get a class set of these. They are very easy and simple to work with, especially as a coding for beginners robot. I don't think I've seen so many adults so happy about the smaller robots in a while. Below are the 3 drive modes I chose to drive my Sphero through the obstacle course with and us playing a soccer style game as a class in the hall.

Teaching 6th Grade Science

Well hello everyone, Long time no hear. Having a blog is not something I'm the greatest at, lol. Well it hasn't been a full year since my last blog, so that's good. This school year has been intense and busy. I'm at a different school this year, hopefully, I won't have to move to a different school next year. I plan on staying with 6th grade and the team that I have. It's so much work to move to a different school. Word Walls

I've always liked the idea of Word Walls but from my experience in the classrooms that I have the privilege of working in and observing in, it's hard to utilize word walls the way they need to be used, due to the lack of space in the classrooms. With district and state policies saying that there needs to be so many things on the walls already from quick step by step instructions of units that need to be up, like the fact families in Multiplication, etc., the different ways to multiply and so much more. There's not enough space to have a nice word wall without it being partially or almost completely covered. Excited About Blogging

Excitement Ozzing From My Mind!! I am so excited to start this blogging thing. It's something I've never done before but have been interested in in the past but didn't know how to get started so I just let go of the idea. I am excited to be doing this now for my Teaching Techniques education class. What makes this even more exciting is that I know this class, past classes, and future classes will help me on my journey in becoming a classroom teacher as well as helping me with the current space I have decorated and furnished below that was assigned to me by my building principal to do small group LLI (Leveled Literacy Intervention). I'm excited to see how this class will help me better teach my groups this year and better prepare me for substituting throughout the school and for my future of teaching a classroom of more than 6 students.
