Sharing More Books to Read

I wanted to share this very good advice that an educator shared with myself and other members of an educator group that I am apart of on fb. She also put a link in her post. Please click on it and go to because it's a great resource. Again, this isn't my lost but someone else's post that I am sharing.

In case the link doesn't work, here it is but I think it will still be very good to read her post as a great resource as well because before she gave the link she gave greay advice on how to make this a year round learning experience instead of just a black history reading month.

  1. April,

Thanks for speaking out about everything. It breaks my heart for you. I wish I could say I understand but I simply cannot. I do not know what racism feels like and I never will all I know is I can use my privilege to speak out about what others will not. I wrote down all the books we discussed in class and I love this as a resource! I plan to read some of these to my own kids as well not just in a classroom.

    1. Thank you for your kind words and for standing up for what's wrong. It really does mean a lot to me. In my other blog right before this one, I also have book recommendations in there too.

  2. Our students need to know the history of our country, be it good, bad, happy or sad.. it needs to be known. I feel like each generation is getting better at spreading information and accepting information and it helps if us, teachers, do the same. We can help the spread of information and acceptance.

    1. I agree that history needs to be known whether good or bad, happy or sad. I also agree that information has been better spread over the years with people being open and vulnerable and raw about how they are feeling but backing it up with factual events that have happened, not just with opinions. I think teachers have more of an effect on our students than we like to realized and sometimes those effects are greater than those of parents, mainly because they spend more time with us.
