Madeline Hunter Lesson Plan

Yesterday in class I learned about the Madeline Hunter lesson design and it was pretty confusing in a sense to here without seeing an example of what the form would look like completed #visuallearners, right? Lol. I was still very excited to learn about this lesson plan because it brings on the excitement of being one step closer to finishing my degree to teach. I have no doubts that I will get this lesson plan and rock it to the best of my abilities when I finally understand all the moving pieces. I also feel like I’m over thinking this process because that’s what I do and that this is much simpler than what I’m thinking in my mind. I think the thing that will be the hardest for me will be the thinking maps, I’m pretty observant of the teacher language and I ever heard of thinking maps but I have heard of thinking caps. I also think that closure seems a little confusing but like I said before, I maybe just overthinking things. The easier parts for me will be the modeling and modification. I think these will be easier because this is somewhat of what I do for now when I pull groups for LLI (Leveled Literacy Intervention). I believe the modeling has the most impact on the students because from what I have observed students seem to be more into things when they have been shown how to do it and what the outcome would look like. I don’t really know what would be lesser for the students because from my experience in observing so far what would lesser is to have explanation with visual proof of how something looks after you have given an assignment. I’m excited to get started with this lesson plan making, lol

  1. Modeling is very important it helps the students see what they are learning. I love demonstration and and visual aid in teaching the student.
Excited to do lesson plans as well!

  2. I agree with you on the whole visual learner thing. It was confusing to really get a grasp on what goes in each section but I think Dr. Steffes will hopefully go over it next class. I never heard of thinking maps and to see that it is a part of the lesson plans kind of makes me nervous. I am exciting to learn about them but hope I get the hang of that section pretty quick. I also put that closure being a difficult part to complete. Great post and picture!

  3. I'll find a completed lesson plan. Sometimes I find exemplars very limiting. However, I believe in teaching to all learning styles #visualsarentalwayshelpful LOL

  4. I didn't mean anything bad about teaching all learning styles, I completely agree with that. I was just saying that I didn't understand the full concept of what you were telling us without a visual because I am visual learner. I personally need the explanation along with the visual. :/
