Attention 1st Year Classroom Teacher
I just ended my 3rd week of school, teaching 5th grade. It's been a roller-coaster of emotions. The balancing act has been strong. There's has been and will continue to be a lot to balance, especially because I have a family and I'm very involved in my church. I have to say even with all the balancing things and the frustration there have been some amazing moments thus far. I'm very happy with my choice to be a classroom teacher. Don't get me wrong, I also enjoyed being an Instructional Aid teaching small groups for intervention and then becoming the In-School Suspension Supervisor which wasn't nearly as stressful as one would think. What helped me and has helped me personally has been God. He's been such a great anchor for me to balance myself in for the past 7 years and I will continue to fight for my relationship with Him.
I want to offer other year teachers some advice: FIND YOUR ANCHOR!! Find the thing that will keep you balanced and not going insane. This job is insane and demanding but you will do great!! You will do great because you rock!! That's it, you rock and you wouldn't have this job if you didn't. You are there for a reason!! Your students may not always be able to communicate it with you but they care about you and they want you there too.
Have a great year!!!
